The name of the species--in this case it looks to be "Russ dagueletti" is incised on the bottom of the piece

I have not been able to determine much of anything about its origins

I can’t quite figure out what the one with stylized writing on the front is meant to say—if you can decipher it

One certainly comes across these sorts of drawings from time to time, but I think this particular piece quite transcends the context of its making, between the marvelously tender interactions among figures the touch of fingers, hand hold, arm across the back and the terrific
