The crossguards and tang nut are in very good condition throughout with all fittings having a nice lightly aged patina

which would indicate that this bayonet was issued to the 13th Reserve Pioneer Regiment

It is made of high quality wood, which has been beautifully carved in spirals with a marvelous DOG'S HEAD handle. It looks to be a Grey Hound, with amber glass eyes and an alert expression. Around its neck is an engraved Silver band stating: Capt. W. J. Bell R. E. 1917 Other than his rank, name, and branch
