Walther's production for the Wehrmacht was marked the same way throughout the production with the serial number on the barrel just in front of and above the hole for the barrel pin

Produced in 1942 by the National Portrait Company of Elkhart

It looks to originally had the airplane gray finish

Only some light storage wear and added markings prevent it from looking exactly as it did when it was completed

This is a very interesting bronze statue which we believe to be depicting an Austro Hungarian soldier. This is because we found a very similar example that had the soldier wearing a different piece of headgear, that being a forage cap, but the bayonet on his side is nearly identical, so we believe that this is an Austro Hungarian piece, but we cannot say this for certain.
