1963 Print Howard Brodie World War II Art Magdeburg Germany Citizens Portraits SM3 This is an original 1898This is an original 1963 halftone print of two older citizens of Magdeburg, Germany (Deutschland), after the fall of the city in 1945. Brodie had a card written in German explaining that he wanted to draw local citizens. He showed it to the old woman, who came with him to the military government building. Once he led her into the room and opened the blinds, she began to cry, because she thought he was an American 'Gestapo' agent about to question her.
