Early 20th Century Canvas Dutch Boy Advertising Sign photograph first put into use inc. 1900s; National Lead Co. Philadelphia Antique painted canvas advertisement for Dutch boy paints. This sign features an illustrated depiction of the eponymous boy, with a brush and paint bucket. The original design was painted by Lawrence Carmichael Earle and modeled after an Irish American boy who lived near him named Michael Edward Brady.
